Walnut

About

Our Walnut is sourced “green” from the state of Missouri, USA, and is custom-steamed in a closed-loop system to achieve a consistent dark color. After kiln-drying, we apply our own unique sorting and grading protocols for color, width, and character. Walnut has long been—and continues to be—one of America’s most well-known and valuable hardwood species. It is coveted for its beautiful dark color and natural characteristics. These features have earned Walnut the reputation of being the most elite among American hardwoods. It is especially prized for its use in flooring, gun stocks, cabinets, paneling, and high-end architectural molding and millwork.

What Grades Do We Offer?

Super Prime

Our Super Prime grade is rated at 90/70 (90% heartwood on the front face and 70% heartwood on the back face). Super Prime Walnut has very limited defects, restricted by allowable defect size per face and with zero edge knots permitted. Width sorts are available, ranging in full-to-width dimensions from 4” to 10” and wider.

Prime

Premium walnut, perfect for adding a touch of sophistication to your creations.

FAS & 1F

Our proprietary FAS&1F grade highlights clear wood with a mix of heartwood and sapwood. Our custom steaming process darkens the sapwood to achieve color uniformity. Width sorts are available in full-to-width dimensions ranging from 3” to 9” and wider, with minimal wane.

1Common

Our proprietary 1Common grade focuses on defects that accentuate the beauty, style, and character of walnut lumber, while maintaining the physical integrity of each board.

2Common

Because 2Common lumber is sourced from the interior of the log, this grade naturally contains a heavy proportion of heartwood as well as open pith and knots. This grade is typically offered in random widths but can be sorted by width upon request.
